I have followed this forum for probably a year, always good info to be found for sure. I've driven Refrigerated freight for the past year. I have 99% of a degree in Physical Anthropology, I dropped out and went OTR because I was going through some severe depression. While in school I worked in real estate as an inspector. A year on the road has made me forget how I ever got that low. Even for all the BS and best layed plans getting ripped apart I still love it. Also I am a third generation driver. Tried as hard as I could to make my grandfather happy and do something else, but I love it and my heart was never behind anything else.

As of right now my company has slated me to be a trainer. And while I can already hear the detractors, the sad thing is I have only said yes because I feel I can do far better than some of the sorry jokers we have cranking out drivers.

Not going to mention the company in question, I'll just say they aren't the worst out there, though they definatly could clean up thier process a bit.

FYI mobile data is sketchy so if I'm on the move it might take a day to get back. Bed time for right now.

I also dropped out of college to drive.
Always wanted to but never saw it as a viable option until I got pneumonia and missed half the semester. Said screw school and spent the money on my CDL.
Haven't regretted a second of it so far, hopefully the same for you. Although you have been at it a little longer than I.

Welcome to the forum, it's a lot more fun on the inside haha

Only advice I have for you being new user and all. Always watch your back, never know when someone might try to sneak up!

I haven't regretted one second, although I'd be lying if I didn't have dreams about casually going through instead of around certain guard shacks.

It changed my life though. I was in a real dark place in school. Everything in my life by any measurable means was going well but every semester the depression kept growing. I started looking for ways out that I found palatable, inevitably trucking turned out to be that thing. Turned out to be the best decision I ever made.

It is nice to know I'm not the only dropout on the forum though. I've ran into a few drivers on the road since with same story.

Thanks for the welcome. I'll get more active in the coming days, just wanted to toss my hat in the ring.

LoL. I wish I had something to add to that but that got a legitimate gut laugh.

I do carry liquid soap though, maybe that will help.

I'm a college grad. My family is in the trucking biz and I learned to drive a truck before I was legally allowed to drive a car. I'm in my mid 30s and I don't plan on getting out of a truck and into an office anytime soon. I'm a guy that has to be out and about. Sitting at a desk would drive me nuts and have no desire to do so

Welcome aboard. Good on you for trying to get some of these new "drivers" headed in the right direction....

I totally get where your coming from there. My grandfather had me on the farm in central KY driving farm tractors and even his 70s Dodge dump truck (tri Axel) . Before I was even out of middle school. And I think that sitting around is what ate me up inside in school. Growing up in central KY on the farm I've gotta keep my hands and mind busy as can be on something. I too will be doing this this till the DOT says no. Age wise I'm not too far behind you. Late 20s here.

    Thank you!
I'm going to try or lose all my hair trying. I'm supposed to take the class for all the procedures next week so sometime in January I'll get my first student. I'll post about it somewhere on here when it happens. Just to many basic mistakes being made out there and no road etiquette out of too many. So I'm going to try to teach a few of em right.

Once again, thanks for the effort. It's a shame that more megas don't take the time to find more like you with your mindset. If there's ever anything I could possibly help/answer for you, just shoot me a PM.

    Good luck driver.
