Hey guys.
So I started CDL training on my own, and have managed to acquire several pre-hire offers. One of which is for W/S.
Reading through, I see that the pre-hire is more of a "come to our 10 day job interview" than a guarantee of a job.
No problem with that, and I REALLY like the idea of running on my own after that "orientation", instead of being stuck with a trainer for weeks or months.
My questions Have mostly been answered by the wonderful amounts of information I found by reading posts in here, and I have to say a big THANK YOU to all who have donated their time to help rookies like me..
The one multi part question I can't seem to find a clear answer for is this.
Ok, so most (or all?) of the furniture routes are back east?
If I am based out of Modesto CA (provided I pass the 10 day interview successfully), How much real loading and unloading of trailers would I realistically be dealing with?
I ask because I have a back issue that bugs the heck out of me if I push it to much.
I can (and will happily) deal with some loading/unloading, but if I have to unload trailer after trailer........Then Im not sure If I can physically keep up.
I REALLY like what I see/read/hear about Watkins/Shepard, and at this point its my 1st choice.
But I would kinda like an answer to this before I sign on the proverbial dotted line for a greyhound ticket.
( I don't want to waste their time/money if I aint gonna be a good fit into the company)
