Depending on repo laws in the State the truck was from, the owner could have hid it from the repo man. Some States do not allow the repo company to go on private property that is not the property of the person who is getting repo’d.
How far from you was the truck repo’d? Same town?, city?, state?
If the truck came from a 1000 miles away, no problem.
First thing I would do is get to a Cat, or Freightliner shop and change all fluids, hoses, belts, and steer tires, maybe all tires. Batteries also, unless they are new.

    Walk away.

the problem is if it is a repo, then the party which actually owns the truck will provide documentation for a release to sell it and the title in the farmers name is invalid, he doesn’t own the truck at this point.

also 650k on the clock, it needs at least a dyno/blowby test with fluid analysis.

The last CAT on road engine series built. Had all the emission trash on it. 2007 year truck could go either way. If its got a DPF and all that jazz I'd walk away because it'll be nothing but a headache.

    That’s a HUGE red flag.

He legally doesn’t own the truck he’s offering to sell if the title isn’t in his name.

At the very least I’d require he have the title transferred in his name.
That way if there’s any issues at the state with Liens or whatever , those issues will pop up and prevent the title transfer , before you hand over the money.

how many people have had this truck since the farmer ?
And none of them transferred the title ?

    I’d keep shopping .

friend of mine just bought 51 Ford pickup that ran and drive but was in bad condition.
He bought a new engine trans, axle , and lots of chrome and interior stuff. And got busy at his job and didn’t have time to work on it .
Then last week the cops showed up with a flatbed and took the truck.

it was stolen four years ago in another state .
Lucky for him, he hadn’t done lots and lots of work to it .

and as stated. Stay away from any emission truck, get a pre emission one , you do NOT want an old truck with EGR and DPF and DEF and all that garbage.

it's a old Marten truck,so you'll have that going for you, which is nice. Lol
Alot of red flags with this deal.
