Went and looked at a 2003 Kenworth W900L the other day. It has 690,000 mi., cummins isx, 13sp, Needs a new radiator(alot of fins are missing), needs new shoes and drums on front and the rear axle. Engine brakes intermittenly don't work(they said they had that before and the spade connectors on the selenoid came loose?)Other than that it looks in really great shape.
Q1) Generally what can we expect with this motor, good and bad. They told us they get about 5.5mpg. I pulled the sn off the motor if that's helpful.
Q2) They are asking $36,000.....which is in line with Truck Paper listings. Any other opinions welcome.
Looking at a 2003 W900L....any thoughts??

I'd pull an ecm report, check idle time, engine load percentage, engine speed history, etc. Will they make the needed repairs and still sell for the asking price? While their price isn't out of line, it is on the upper end of the scale in my opinion. If they will fix what is needed and the engine history is favorable, then I'd move forward if it's what you are looking for.

i agree with nevs, its on the high end of what its worth with the work it needs done. but if its what you are looking for and you can talk them down to say 30k then you would have a decent deal if the ecm report comes back clean.

take a pic of the radiator and air cooler....you may run into problems like i did
