Right.. There's plenty out there better, that's not the problem, it's finding one in my price range.

Trucks are stupid over priced right now.. but buying somebody else's junk. Just because it's in your price range doesn't work either you will pay the price for that 10 times over and still have junk and no money

Too bad the WS doesn’t have a 12.7. I’d like to have something like that. Keep looking. You’re going to pay one way or another. None of them are worth the asking prices right now. I’d guess the idea was fuel economy with the Mercedes engine. Sooner than most think, things will change. It always does. There’s going to be a huge surplus of Trucks. Lot of repos. Lot of deals. Having steady freight, to count on, will be the most important thing.

I think both of those are priced way higher than they're worth. I don't think I'd even pay $25k for the Freightliner. The purchase price of the truck is only the beginning of the worries though. I'd be more concerned about the tow and shop bills and lost revenue looking at trucks like that. No guarantees but a truck with a Series 60 (the 12.7 liter pre-EGR version) would be a better place to start. Those routinely go 1-1.2M miles and are considered one of the more reliable truck engines ever made.

Something like that. They did make a few 14.0 liter pre-emission Series 60's for high HP applications like fire equipment or motorcoach but most of those later ones were EGR and not as desirable. The 12.7 was the late 90's/early 2000's true pre-emission version and some of them ended up in late model glider kits also. If you can afford a later model glider with that motor and don't need to go to CA, that's a good truck if you must buy one. Probably not too many of those floating around for sale though. If this is some gig where they're demanding a newer EPA compliant trucks to go to CA, walk away IMO. Just don't do it.
