Looking at getting a CDL sometime in the next year (probably next summer if I decide to do it). I live in Iowa and have looked at some nearby companies.
From what I've seen Schuster is a small family-owned outfit and I have only seen positive things said about them from drivers on this forum, but I question how hard it would be to actually get hired on there as a new CDL grad. I've also been looking at Heartland Express and Transport America but haven't really looked into it to much. Werner's corporate headquarters is a stones throw away from where I live but I've seen mixed reviews.
It seems the big companies are easier to get hired onto but they tend to value drivers less since drivers are easily replaceable and small companies tend to bring better job satisfaction and pay but can be more competitive and require more experience.
Looking at different companies for new CDL grads

Schuster does hire new cdl grads. They're small enough they can afford to be picky; so that's a good sign.
You can also be picky and should be.
Look at these:
Liquid Trucking
Contract Freighters
West Side Transport
A&A Express - Brandon,SD
Britton Transport
Magnum Ltd.
Freymiller - hires new grads under the "Restore Program" on the website.

You have plenty of time to call companies and ask if they hire from the school you plan to attend. This way, you can narrow the list down if necessary. You'll have a good, solid list prepared for the first day of school.
