    Your math is a bit off there friend.
    I work 5 days a week and am home 2 like I said.

    That means I work about 25 ish days a month and that would break down to an average of 340 miles a day.

    I have been getting a lot of messages on my box from the company about "upgrading" to a lease, but frankly, I don't want to take the financial risk at this point in my life. I have secured my retirement with my first career, and to hazard that after seeing several guys at terminals ending their leases makes me hesitant to even consider it.

    Give Jill at Atlas Van Lines a call:

    I am O/O with many yrs safe driving too.
    I almost went to work for Atlas Van Lines, and would have too, if UPS Freight hadn't called me to set Orientation just one day before Jill completed running my application and called me next morning. Looks like a good-solid company.

    Here are the particulars she sent to me.

    List of Deductions are as follows:

    QualComm = $31/month

    Occupational/Accidental Insurance = $133/month (or Work Comp is around $500/month) Both go through TransGuard

    Physical Damage = Depends on the year and Book Value of the truck. I can definitely look this up for you!

    Our Plates = $157/month

    BestPass = $4/month

    Escrow = $5,000 (you will have up to 8% taken out of your Settlement) Any interest incurred will be paid out quarterly. You do get the money back, if you leave the company.

    *We pay: Bobtail, Cargo/Liability & Permits

    Health, Dental & Life Benefits: ITG (Independent Truckers Group)

    Average Pay per Mile of $1.56 Includes:

    Base Pay:

    OTR = $1.05 loaded, $0.74 deadhead

    East Regional = $0.95 loaded, $0.83 deadhead

    West Regional = $0.93 loaded, $0.83 deadhead

    Fuel Surcharge

    Stop Pay ($75/stop on non-trade show truckloads & $150/stop on trade show truckloads)

    Re-setting Trailer = $75

    Detention = $65/hour (Non-Trade Show starts after 3 hours. Trade Show starts after 6 hours.

    $35 each time a Lift Gate is used

    Annual Mileage Bonus

    Good luck, Serriaman

    .95 cpm is a joke. I get 79% and average 1.90 pm. Even the 1.56 per mile is to low. My cost per mile without a wage for house expenses is 1.23 pm so that would only leave .43 cpm for personal expenses and reinvestment into your business.
