A little piece of advice from somebody that just got finished with CDL school. Go and visit the school and talk to the students while they are on the pad training. Find out how many people there are to a truck. Ask their opinion about the program and ask if they regret making the decision to come to that particular school.
The POS CDL school I attended had 12+ students trying to get into a truck each day during our three hours on the pad. Some classes had almost 20. It whittled down some as the weeks went by. I went through a five month "professional truck driver" program and maybe got 15 minutes in a truck each day. The instructors there basically let the students fight over who went next until I started running a list. Everybody got on board with that with exception of a few who thought they could "prison yard" their way into a truck. That got sorted out when the older folks like myself stepped up.
Take a good look at the quality of the student, too. This school was good about finding grant money students so they picked up the dregs of society to run them through a CDL mill. You want to be around students that have skin I. The game. Use that GI Bill, though. You earned that money.Keepforgettingmypassword and Woolfy Thank this. -
Most community college CDL classes are pretty good
I’d visit the school, in person and take a look .
the ones in my state are very good , inexpensive at $1,600 and also are not advertised.
I have no idea why they don’t advertise.Keepforgettingmypassword Thanks this. -
Anyhow, I did talk to another school, small start up school so the class was small. I felt like it was a fairly good school.
Regards, I'm really leaning towards Schneider, I think their CDL school is in Gary, IN. My G.I. Bill is officially approved for their apprenticeship program, so I'm really hoping they have an opportunity for me.Keepforgettingmypassword Thanks this. -
You might consider Carter Express.
