So I want to get some recommendations. I am looking to go to a different company, I have both a Truck and a 53' Dry Van. I am looking for a company that pays 88% or better and will allow me to book my own loads along with insurance that is cheaper than $1100 a month. Anyone got the low down on some good companies, preferably ones in Texas, but willing to look elsewhere.

What’s the deal on being leased on and paying $1100 a month insurance? That’s more than I pay with my own authority.

Because they think 90% is good until all the deductions bring it down to 75%

You’ll have to look far and wide. I hired O/O’s when I couldn’t cover my freight volumes with my own anymore. If I didn’t have work I needed them for why would I hire in the first place? From my side of the desk you sound like someone that wants the operation of your truck financed for you while you go out and chase load board garbage. I don’t see 12% of #### all being a large benefit to me in any way, so why would I hire a truck on those terms. I know what you’d be told if you showed up here proposing what you are, and it’s not “when do you want to start”. If you showed up with one truck and 3 trucks worth of decent freight, then we’d have something to talk about. Be a short conversation where you’re at now though.

Own authority, own insurance, own loads.. yet run under some other MC? How is that?

Leased to a carrier that charges for insurance.

Even more confusing. Drop your insurance, MC, loads and run under some other MC. Or.. drop other MC and run yourself. How much would it be more profitable to run yourself, if more paying loads are always more readily given to a company with more than one truck? Why would I save few bux on insurance, yet loose whole bunch of them on lesser paying loads.. don't see the business logic in it. Plus, sleepless "search" time.

He is leased to a carrier now and wants to move to another one that pays more and charges less. Doesn't have his own authority.

Where is the problem? Finding one? Multiple truck carriers are charged more for insurance, since they run mostly with newer equipment, that's a tough one. Also from what I've seeing so far 13-15% is average for dispatch. 12 and less are very rare, especially now.
