Mine were in 89 and 04. 89 for armed robbery, 04 for poss with intent. I was a stupid kid in 89, runnibng with the wrong crowd. I'm a grandfather now, looking to get beyond my past, and make a better future for myself and my family.

Interesting reading this thread. Having worked 4 1/2 years in state correctional facilities, I have often wondered how realistic the CDL program that some states offer their inmates would prove to be in helping them find a job. I'm glad to see at least a few companies are open to "overlooking" felonies, on a case by case basis.

Some companies actively recruit felons and even partner with CDL schools to pre-hire felons/recent parolees into the schools and then hire them at graduation.

back in 07 and 08 I wrote some bad checks and never picked them up so last year the new DA sort of "cleaned house" I guess you can say, and I spent 24 hrs in jail and had to go to court, I made restituition and now I have hefty court costs, but the main thing is now I have a felony on my record and I have been turned down back to back so I asked the latest company why I was turned down and yep the main reason was I have a felony record, I don't know what to do now it seems my trucking career is over!

Hard to believe bad checks lead to a felony. I understand it's a bad thing to do but a life altering felony seems a bit extreme.

Writing bad checks is the same as stealing, based on the amount, which very from state to state on amount, it becomes a felony

I have a felony from about 9 years ago and I have been hired by a couple companies, I try to stay local so it makes it a little tougher because it seems OTR is whats in demand. I've been turned down by JB Hunt, Hirschbach, and probably a couple others I havent received a call back from, but JB had me lined up with a cond. offer. I just laugh it off though, no reason getting bent about it, i'm my eyes those companies dwelling on your past when you're trying to do well and make a living, they are worthless piles anyway that only cost taxpayers more $ in the long run. They only do what it takes to make them $ without regard to anyone else, they all blame it on their insurance companies (what they'll tell you anyway), well you know what maybe those insurance companies need to be handed their walking papers. People trying to provide for themselves are better then people living off govt benefits, or criminal acts for that matter, these greedy companies dont see it that way, they wanna make money and if they gotta spend a little more to insure you, they wont do it, just plain greed. I'm pretty sure Western Express hires with felonies, i talked to them and they said it wont be an issue because of the time since.
