I went to E.S.D. Truck Driving School in Decatur, AL and acquired my CDLs this August. I live between Huntsville, Alabama and Chattanooga, Tennessee. I have no criminal record, no DWI/DUI and no driving violations for over 10+ years. I am looking for a company that will give me quality training and keep me in the southeast region or at least on the East Coast. I don't have to be home every night. Someone wrote that you should asked not to be trained by an O/O because they are just going to want miles. I might be asking for the impossible. I am inexperience in this industry and the only place I have found real information is on this forum. The question I have are, should I fill out company applications or speak to someone first? What questions should I be asking the companies once I do speak to them? Since companies lie so much to new drivers is there a way to protect myself from the lies? Any guidance is very much appreciated.

What to look for are companies with "regional" opportunities. Many offer "Southeast Regional". Check companies websites that hire new graduates, and look for "regional" opportunities. It's OK to send some online applications & specify you want "Southeast Regional." Check the Questions from new drivers, forum and click on "Companies that hire new drivers", for a list.

There are 27 companies on the list. You're best pay will be with refrigerated.

i would look into BTC. they have a terminal in b-ham and they have a really good training program. It is flatbed not sure if thats what ur into but its worth a shot. they will get you home every weekend and if you wanna stay out east thats the company to go to. good luck hope you find something. oh and btw try to steer clear of o/os iv tried that twice and got burned each time. they want you to run illegal, they dont keep up on there trucks, and they never want to pay you. as for tryig to do it just for experience dont bother. i couldnt get any of them to verify my experience
