We had six new drivers at MB quit because they weren't getting the long runs. I guess they didn't know how a union shop works.

Did MB learned a lesson here?

Yeah. Don't hire young drivers with little experience. These guys expect to come in and get the same work as guys with 20 or 30 years with the company.

    More like:
Stop lying to people you hire.
    Young or old.
    It doesn't matter.
    Tell them the truth.
MB it's not the first or the worst offender.
I don't think they learned anything.

Do your homework before you accept a job. It's not that hard.

    Asking questions it's not hard.
Sifting through lies and omissions is complicated.
Their picture is ugly, but they don't want you to know.
With most of these carriers is the same as trying to get a date on POF.

Whats the main complaint with short runs? Not enough hours/money? Or to much work, not enough cruise control?

I guess not enough money. We're guaranteed at least 10 hours a day. It's not even our busy time yet. This Sunday we get a 2.25% raise which would bring their pay to at least $29/hr, depending on how long they've been here. They even went to management to get them to drop seniority but that's covered in our contract.

So if you come in for only 2 hours, you get 10hrs @ $28+hr Regardless? Is there a weekly minimum also?

Technically yes but they won't let you go home until 9 hours. You may have to move trucks or do a yard check or just hang around the office. Weekly minimum is 40 hours pay regardless of how many hours you actually work. Sometimes I take 9 hour runs and get the tenth hour for free.
