Technically you can’t go backwards with emissions. That’s why EPA21 trucks have more things that can’t be touched in the computer. Elkhorn Valley tried Cat swapping a 389 with the digital dash and the truck wouldn’t even turn over when they got everything swapped in.
Looking for a glider in the Dallas, Fort Worth area.

Interesting. Now Fitz built 579 Gliders, so there had to be a way for it to work since the 579 is based on the new canbus latest generation architecture l would guess. I am sure someone will figure it out.

They didn’t build any new gen 579’s, they were the old body and old dash. Part of the greenhouse gas regulations is that manufacturers use technology to make things tamperproof. It will get to the point that how you order a truck and how it leaves the factory is how it will stay.
RubyEagle Thanks this. -
Has anyone ever had an emissions check outside of states that I don't run in?
I will be the first in line for a cng conversation. Been shopping for when I need a new engine. Cng is everywhere now, 0 emissions controls. Not sure how ifta works on that one, if at all? -
IFTA has a way to figure out alternative fuels. It’s on their website. -
You ditch the dash, replace with a properly programed tablet, and steam gauges. As long as the ecu can interface with the eld, it's all good. Talking to a tablet from ECM should be quite easy. All the programs already exist.

Spend $230k for a new truck, then another $40k or so for an engine swap, then have a cobbled together dash with an iPad, and likely not have use of other cab functions because the cab modules won’t play nice with the iPad…..sounds like my dream truck.

I'd buy a fitz glider. Especially if it is blown up. Looking for a 579 daycab with 12.7 Detroit.

That's is your best bet. With the money saved over new you can refurbish it to like new easily.
