I just own the tractor, I am leased onto a local fuel tanker company. I am currently trying to switch my tractor over to my LLC so I can gradually restructure my company from doing what I do now to being completely independent, possibly with multiple trucks but at the very least with my own trailer and the ability to contract with customers directly and get %100 of the load.

i also anticipate having to switch specialties to become completely independent. You don't see a lot of completely independent guys hauling fuel with just one truck and trailer, from what I understand shippers would want you to have multiple trucks to be more reliable and the loading terminals require prohibitively expensive insurance to have access to load. I haven't researched this in depth but I haven't been ready to make another step in that direction anyway. i think if it came down to it and I was ready to buy my own trailer but couldn't make it happen pulling fuel I would look into flatbed. I used to do that as a company driver and took a lot of pride in it, and made a lot of money.

The pay was good; delivering to grocery stores from a grocery warehouse. Didn't really like the job, but needed to be home daily at the time. The grocery warehouse liked my work ethic, so bought my contract from the temp service. The contract was nothing more than a non-compete clause which doesn't mean anything to the driver if he just quits anyway. They put 5 trucks OTR running coast to coast, so I jumped on that when my home situation allowed it. I don't like local work.

Several, but the police don't even suspect me. My driving record is pretty clean, I would love to hear from you. Me and the wife decided to try to make the move at the end of the school year. The kids will be better off that way and I'm more confident about leaving my stable job to step into a new one and make money in the early summer then early winter.
