Is gas fueling a good field to get into?
-
I'll be totally honest with you.......
good companies to check out:
EPES
Sheetz(out of Mebane, NC)
and TOP COMPANY Old Domin!
DO NOT GO WITH
JL Rothrock! Their Insurance is VERY HIGH and they work you to death for minimum amount of pay!(this is an OTR co. with 'guaranteed' weekends off)
Hilco Transport! They are lower than the lowest! I tried them out for 2 weeks! Let's say....after a 12-14 hour day, you'll average around $10 an hour(this is NOT the 'dump division') and won't spend ANYTIME at home OR with family....you'll have a straight up 10 hours off(to sleep in your own bed, 'they say')...and the insurance is like $180 a week for family!
hope this helps! Good Luck! -
appreciate it Lonelyguy! I'll check out Epes, will any of the others accept 1 year of experience. I'll settle for regional long as I get off on the weekends. Would local be better than regional

As far as home time, I know local is home daily but would you still be able to get quality time off

Hey LWood, would you consider Cargo Transporters out of Claremont? You should start at 42cpm, trucks raised to 65, I get home most weekends when I don't choose to stay out. Been here nearly 3 months. Average 2200 miles per week. BC/BS Medical 160/week for family I believe. Free.Sirius radio, fridge included. Dry van only. Check us out.

I really haven't looked into Cargo yet gntorres61, I do see them a lot going through Burlington & Greensboro. How is the weekends home? Like how much time do you usually get off on a weekend. Do they have inverters/ idle policy. I've heard about the drive cams, are they real strict on that.
-
And what have been your primary running lanes so far?
-
I ran with Epes 3 years. Good choice for where you live but they are running autos now which was a big drawback for me. No cameras like they got over at cargo which wouldn't be a bad choice either except for the tattletale cameras
I currently run for Ashley out of advance. Best gig around for money, equipment and home time. They are hiring but prefer 2 years minimum although they will make exceptions if you have a good record. I'd try anyway we're definitely hiring at that location and now is the time to get in. If you can get in its well worth being here.lonelyguy Thanks this. -
Ok appreciate it flyingmusician I was thinking about ashley yea but that 2 years minimum just threw me off. I'm at 8 months now, my driving record is clean. Do you think they would even consider me? How is the home time there? Yea I though about Epes, I just cant so slow trucks any more I run 63 now. Just give me 65 the speed limit for trucks in a lot of states and I'm happy lol
