    Is Ashley set at 65 or 68 mph? So you get drop and hook pay, anything else they pay for?

    Set at 65. The kw's will run 66 for some reason I'm not arguing with it I can pass the volvos lol. Word is they're gonna turn on the driver rewards software in the truck to give us a few more mph if we hit the goals but it hasn't happened yet.

    Live load / unload is paid same as d/h. Layover if you have to sit more than 16hrs. Rarely ever happens though. I've had one in a year and s half. load/unload on the occasional Backhaul is usually pretty quick. Ytd numbers from my spreadsheet show an avg 1.25hrs on dock for lives.

    My all in rate / mile ytd is 0.521 on all miles.

    It's a different mindset than miles miles miles. The key is to get as many d/h in a week as you can it really bumps up the rate per mile. You don't dread the shorter trips they're the money trips if you can turn a bunch in a week.

    Well right now they are set at 65-Volvo that's what I am in, they are to bump them up to 69 this fall, the drop and hook fees are $30, that's 15 for a drop and $15 for a hook.

    (flyingmusician) numbers are spot on, Layover fee is $75 that includes your 10 hr brake plus 4 hours to equal 16 hrs.

    Keep in mind we are talking PTP=drop and hook. Not LTL, LTL can make $100,000-finger printing the load to the tail of the trailer.

    They also pay for showers on the road if you have to pay to get one.

    If you do get stuck on the road and have to do a restart, they pay for a hotel and 2 layover fees, and its not in a motel 6 if you know what I mean.

    Also have profit sharing, and a Christmas type bonus in December.

    Also a safety bonus paid out every quarter, and its not hard to qualifie for it. I avg about $400. before taxes.

    O yeah, and a Turkey, about a week before Thanks Giving --LOL

    A $1500 week for me looks like this.

    Head out with an empty on Monday to load somewhere 750-850 miles away and coming right back. Get paid $15 an hour while getting loaded, sitting in a traffic jam, or doing anything on line 4. Loading is either drop and hook or customer loading while I either sit in a room at the plant or crash in my truck. I get back home Wednesday after dropping the load at the plant. Thursday I head out with a preloaded paint tank that delivers 24 hours after I get it 750 miles away. On this one I back it under the rack and go to bed because it takes between 4-9 hours for them to unload it. Nothing like getting paid $120 for an 8 hour sleeper berth break. Roll it on home when they finish getting back Saturday.

    When we are busy I might do several weeks in a row with 2 loads. I actually prefer to run 1 load the next week and have more time at home. Over a 14 day period that's working 9 days, taking 5 days off, and only sleeping in the truck 6 nights. My budget works out just fine on 1 load a week.

    That's one thing I like about this industry. There are so many niche subsets of it that if you keep your nose clean you can find somewhere that suits what you want out of it with some really decent gigs......albiet few and far between ones.

    It's not all mega bottom feeder doom and gloom if you actually take the time to do a little research.

    So superior carriers is kinda set up where you can run as much or as little you want & -have more home time

    They want you to work when it's busy but I have never had a problem getting time off. In 8 years I always had over 100 full days off. Beware of the companies that promise weekends at home if you want real home time. I define a day off as not working at all that day. The typical trucker weekend of getting home Saturday morning and going back out Monday morning would only be 1 day off in my calculations.

    Also my example above is dedicated freight. A week in the system would look a lot different and likely have a few driver air or pump unloads. They require dragging some hoses around and visiting other terminals and tank washes. I ran the system my first 6 years with the company. At High Point they would mix in the system loads with the dedicated loads. I would be system for a couple of weeks and then run a dedicated load or 2 for a little more home time.

    Yea wsyrob I know what you mean about the guaranteed weekends home thing. That's why I'm trying gather as much info as possible and make the best decision for my next company. I want to do regional/ dedicated for my new gig. Weekends home.3 weeks on the road at a time now is getting old
