I don't want to say as of right now. I'll spill the beans when the time is right.

I'm happy to pay out 10%-15% for an office support staff. Factoring, IFTA, billing, DOT, FMCSA bureaucracy, permits. Naa, I'm good.

Do you pull your own trailer? Find a small company that doesn't do force dispatching and take advantage of the 75/25 split and let someone else do the work for you! That is the smart way to do it if your not wanting to run your own authority. And if you have your own trailer it is more like 85/15 for most smaller companies.

It’s not a bad deal if you’re looking to get started. I think a lot of people over estimate the complexity of running your own authority. Do your research up front and get a system in place from day one and it’s not very difficult.
I run an ELD and IFTA is automated, I don’t factor and I’m getting my money 14-21 days. I have only had two loads I’ve had to follow up on that were past due. You deal with the new entrant audit in the beginning but not much after that just keep good records and that’s all there is to it. Only permits I have are KY and NY and that’s just a yearly renewal, just like plates.
If you bring in 250k a year, not unreasonable, their 20%, is 50k a year, 90% is 25k. Long term, it’s not worth it.

I'm happy at Mercer. Professional company, IMO. I run as hard or easy as I want. You can self-dispatch all you want from the many selections on the load board. Mercer isn't perfect. No company is. But I have no intentions of going anywhere else any time soon.

I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend MAG Carriers. 1) I worked with them as a driver; through an owner operator who had his own truck. Reason, I resigned and they did NOT pay the owner operator until 3 months later. Result, I did NOT result final paycheck of $700 after. 2) Stupidly, I thought it was my owner operator lying there me. I went back to MAG Carriers as a company driver and quit. Reason, they are a bunch of crooks imposing as Christians. Result, they AGAIN came up with fees to make my paycheck $0. I was owed $1200 from last check.

Try JRV Logistics. Pretty good company. I spoke to the guy on the phone. He's pretty straight up. BoyWander on here has been with him from the ground level. He wrote a whole thread about his experience with them from day one. Here's the link to their website. Check them out. Its all pick your own freight. Welcome
