I have been laid off for 1.5 years & ready to switch occupations. I applied at Millis but was turned down for lack of recent work history. From what I read, i wish that would not have happened. I am waiting on a call from Schnieder this week. Any opinions there? Any other recommendations?
I have my dot physical card. Plan on taking my permit test next week. I plan on being otr, & doing some serious driving.
    Thanks for any advice given.

FFE (Frozen Food Express) has cdl school in Chicago Heights. I think they provide meals and lodging if it's too far to commute.
Schneider is ok, but I'd try for their tanker division. Probably "take home" a thousand or more weekly pulling tankers.

Get the endorsements before you graduate from cdl school. Schneider Bulk (tankers) is a great way to start of the career.
@TravR1 can tell you about the miles at FFE.. You'll make really good money there.

Yeah they will. There a lot of freight right now, terminals are busy. Best money at ffe is probably teaming. You get your loads faster and take them farther. The solo guys will still fare well. Usually they will run trailers from terminal to terminal, same route every week. When they get back to their home terminal they will do a 34 HR reset and then go again. Solo guys get like 800-1100 a week something like that, it varies. I team and load my trailer so I average about 1500 or so most of the time. Ive seen checks up to alnost 2k on good weeks. Lowest check I ever saw so far was 1050 excluding the hometime weeks.

    Chinatown Thanks this.
