Just a question.. I have hired a driver that is suspended from driving in upstate ny in albany.. he says hes banned from NY because he has three tickets there because of an equipment violation at his previous job and that job did not want to take care of the tickets so their up in the air. I also offered to go halfies with him with a lawyer to clear the tickets once hes on my truck making money. Can he be banned from ALL of upstate ny if he has unpaid tickets their or is it just near albany? An example.. he will be taking off from newark,nj everyday and if he heads to eastern MA than it wont be a problem as he could just avoid heavy toll payments at the gw bridge and take route 17 up to the tappanzee and head that way, but if he has a pickup in western MA, what would be the best route to get there without upstate ny? maybe route 684 right?

    thanks

How can he be banned from just upstate NY? That would mean all of NY state if he has outstanding tickets. I consider upstate NY anything west of I 87 should not need to go there to get to Ma.

NYS does not ban you from a particular region.
But they do suspend your driving privileges for the entire state for un paid violations.
Usally if your are caught driving with a suspended license they arrest you and have your vehicle towed.
The CDL licence violations are shared among every states
so drivers can't hide from there violations.
I would run his license thru the dmv to make sure it's still valid.

I would make sure that his CDL is still valid before putting him in your truck. I have never heard of a state banning him from one specific region.

You may also want to check to make sure he has no outstanding warrants.

Ask him if he's ever heard of something called "pre-trip" and "post-trip"

Sounds to me like he's a repeat offender of not paying attention to equipment, and once he gets dinged, he blames the company.

    Proceed with caution.

Mr @biiqtruckin , I'm going to tell you something that you may not want to hear: IMO, you're messing up. I know that you need a driver and you must need a driver in the worst way to even consider doing this stuff. But friend, this is a mistake. He got himself in trouble, he should get himself out. He has a really bad habit...he chose not to be responsible when it was his responsibility and now his driving privileges are in jep in your freight lane. You're going to trust your business to someone who's not responsible? That's like financial suicide.

Not sure how he's banned, you should fire him immediately. Take 95 to 287 over tappan zee back to 95. You own a trucking company and don't know how to get from NJ to Massachusetts and you hire a driver who says he's banned from upstate NY. Man I thought I was dumb.
