One young guy to another. I'm 23, got my cdl a few months after I turned 21 and have not regretted it once. I grew up around trucks with my dad being owner op but when I graduated high school trucking was the last thing I'd thought I'd be doing 3 yrs down the road. I fully embraced it though. Mostly have done food service with a stint in the oilfield hauling frac pumps at 100k gross.

Who knows how the future of this industry will be tho, your guess is as good as mine. I say get that degree for now even if it is low paying you still have that piece of paper saying your more well rounded than I am, and the usps idea is a good one, hit up all the LTL barns around you see if they have part time dock work while you finish school

Find a local company that will train and get you your CDL. I worked for an environmental company, and got my class B at 19 and cleaned sewers for 5 years. Now at 26, work LTL doing linehaul, making great money and home everyday

    Pintlehook Thanks this.
