I went with Marten after this post. They seemed to have most of what I wanted, but from Tucker GA orientation, I was assigned a KW T600 (or maybe 660). If I'd known there was even a possibility of being put in one of these matchboxes, I never would have applied with Marten.
They said I had sleep apnea too, and tried to make me use a CPAP machine. I couldn't rest with the mask on my face and finally refused to use it. I DO NOT have sleep apnea; furthermore, heartburn or leg pain wakes me up far more frequently than sleep apnea ever will, and I don't understand why the FMCSA doesn't test for gastric disorders, PAD (Peripheral Artery Disease), and arthritis - but that's another story.
One dispatcher put me on loads wherein the appointment times fell during my 10 hour breaks. I actually kept one of them (how can you acheive REM sleep, which was required by the sleep experts at Marten, when you have to work during sleep breaks?) but refused to keep the others. I got to the receivers and slept through the appointment times. Customer service had to reschedule two appointments after I'd already told the dummy dispatcher I couldn't keep them.
Blah, blah, blah....
But Marten was the best money I've ever made - sliding pay scale really works, along with automatic detention. Wouldn't be a bad choice for a lot of drivers.
