I took a month off from one company once. Expect to be slip-seated. Also, don't ask don't tell. Just get hired and try to work there for a full 12 months before you take off. You might need to look for another company afterwards.
Hey Chinatown and Lual, is there a lot of fiddling around with freight when it comes to milk hauling? I know with hazmat tanks a lot of the time they want you to deal with hoses and hatches, nozzles and whatnot. Would be nice to have no-touch freight with food grade tank.
Also, how do you deal with the extremely strict cleanout requirements between loads? I mean, how much time can a driver expect to waste tracking down a trailer washout place that's up to snuff, get your t-check all squared away with dispatch, wait your turn, and then wait for the washout to be complete?

I haven't hauled milk.
The tanker products I hauled, once unloaded, deadhead back to the terminal. Pays the same, loaded or empty.
I hauled out of Nashville. Have a load of acid to Bakersfield, California, 45 minutes to unload, then deadhead back to Nashville. Tanker world is a whole new experience. Hauled several loads to Seattle, Washington and 45 minutes to unload, then deadhead back to Nashville, Tennessee. Pays the same, loaded or empty. -

Never knew from one load to the next where the destination would be. That's one reason I liked that job; didn't have the same routine. -
