I am desperately looking for a O/O that is willing to give me a chance to prove myself. I am a recent graduate and obtained my CDL Class A License. I live in Va and have a clean motor vehicle record. I have a great work history and excellent personal references. I'm willing to learn as much as someone is willing to teach me. I'm not picky about hometime. I am trying hard to not go to a company and just be a driver who never gets appreciated or properly trained. Everyone has said that owner operators are the best solution to learning the road. I'm a hard worker and make it a goal to be the best at what I'm doing and to never disappoint. I am a 33 year old gay male who lives in Virginia. I'm a clean person and have good hygiene. I am a smoker so I know that's an important factor to some. I would prefer to drive at night if that would be possible. I am more then willing to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to contact me at any time. I'm looking to get started as soon as possible. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my ad.

good luck in your career. its kinda sad that you would have to mention your "preferences", but nice that you are that up front i guess. still waiting for the day when its not a big deal to anyone. no im not gay, but having been in music and theater for many years, my facebook is full of people who are. one of my best friends asked in our first meeting if it would bother me if he told me he was gay (meant as a come on line). replied not as long as it doesnt bother you when i tell you im not.

I'm just a honest person. I wouldn't want it to be a problem down the road. Then it would be just wasted time for me and the other person. I wouldn't want to put anyone in a uncomfortable position.

well, just so you know, the stereotypical trucker is for the most part a myth. the industry has a huge cross section of people, and for the most part your lifestyle is a non issue. other drivers for the most part could not care less about that stuff, unless of course youre hitting on them. id care about that too. once, id tell you i wasnt gay..twice and i'd have a problem with you. but you certainly dont sound like that type of person... someone whos up front about it and says its to avoid putting others in an uncomfortable position. good for you.

    Putting sexuality aside,

Its a jungle out there and your the hunter and the hunted. Try every resource you can think of to find what it is your looking to have. Meaning, Craigs list, your local online newspaper / t.v. job sites, and just if you can, drive around and when you see a few trucks parked somewhere, just go in and ask and explain your situation to them.

After all, it never hurts to ask anyone for a job, all they can say is no, until the one time you may still hear a yes. Just keep your hopes up and keep looking.

What has you scared or put off from choosing one of the big mega carriers? They really are not so impersonal as they seem.

Training is training, either by a company driver or an O/O. I have heard that most prefer the company driver trainer over an O/O, due to it being a more personal one on one experience , and second, the company driver doesn't have the same bills to pay as an O/O does. So it doesn't become a situation where you become the second seat driver, he sleeps, you drive, you sleep, he drives, and its just a never ending rat race for him to pad his pocket book from your labor and efforts. IMHO

    Good luck to you,

    A funny thought,

Take anything you can find, with any company that will hire you. Then become an O/O yourself in time.

Maybe you are letting your fears hold you back. Just jump in with both feet and see where they land.

Believe me, there are more people, sincerely and genuinely concerned and want to see you succeed than you can ever imagine.

These mega carriers do see a lot of people that come and go, that much is true. But you have to put a human face on them also. Realize they are run and staffed by real people that if you sincerely are trying to do your very best, they will stand right along side of you, to help you to succeed.

Of course take care of yourself as i know how critical it is to get a job. and maybe i can do the same for you as well. Anyway be blessed friend and thank you for your time. btw have you looked n2 KLLM....When i was training over the road my trainer told me that they are very friendly to people with old felonies.

Just to let everyone know.....I signed on with Prime. I've been with them since January 2013. So far I am extremely happy and couldn't have asked for such a great place. I encourage anyone looking for a stable place with miles then look into Prime.
