    ####! I could use a couple grand...and I just went through there today...LoL
I don't think you'd want to learn to drive this long truck, though.

Sorry to hear that's how it's gone for you. I don't know if it's feasible for you but you might want to look at a local community college for your training. The CC here in Houston I'm planning to attend limits the the class size to 2-3 students per truck and the training appears to be fairly thorough totaling 280 hrs. They have either 6 or 12 week daytime or evening options. The down side is that classes fill up quickly apparently. I was there yesterday gathering info and had intended to sign up for an 8/12 start date but was told that class was already full! The best I could do was get on the waiting list for the next class start on 9/23 which hasn't even opened for registration yet.

In the Dallas area, even the CC is tied to Megas. Isn't that something?

Nothing, it's just longer than a standard truck.

How do you mean "tied"? Down here the megas come in and do active recruitment but presumably there's no official relationship beyond the instructors knowing the recruiters b/c they see them frequently. I certainly don't get the impression the school is obligated to funnel or steer students toward any particular company. When you complete the program you're free to go where ever you want presuming you paid for the training on your own. That kind of thing isn't uncommon at any other kind of school. Even Fortune 500 companies recruit on college campuses.

This is 2021 not 1971. Find a CDL School, private or Company. Do your time, get your 160 hour certificate, spend at least one year with your first company, DO NOT HIT ANYTHING, pick up and deliver on time every time, do not get any tickets or violations. If you accomplish all of the above, you can work for just about any company.
