Like I've said, several here have made a Schneider L/P work. But that's what it is....WORK. It's a business, and has to be treated as such. Not a glorified company driver.
Remember post's from years ago, people were saying ACT had a doable L/P. But haven't heard anything lately.

I can see ONE cat in a truck, but two or more? C’mon now...it’s going to be a smelly litter box on wheels. That goes for you dog people too. If you’re a bit of a whacko who doesn’t mind sleeping on a pile of dog hair then sure, have two or three dogs in the truck and really gross out that mechanic who has to pull it in for service.

The truck is as clean as the person. Anyone with a clean truck will have a clean truck regardless of a pet or not. I got into a brand new glider in 2017 and turned it in Sept of 2018 with 175k on it. When I quit it still had the factory plastic on the bunk carpet and my dog was with me the whole time. The 2 579’s I owned were bought by the same guy because he knew they were clean and my dog was with me the whole time. And the guy I work for now had no issue with me bringing my dog because he knew how I kept my own trucks. But my dog is also never in the truck without the carpet being 100% covered with towels.

Maybe one of them hypoallergenic dogs that don’t shed is the ticket.

Well, the problem is, regardless of how good or honest you lessor is, you are not "your own boss", you are merely THEIR "agent". Or, to be a bit more crude, you are their b!tch until you pay off the note, and not a second before.

If you want to ruin yourself financially do it the traditional way. Go to Vegas, put it all on black, then when you are bankrupt and homeless, at least you won't be stuck in a rolling jail cell working yourself into more debt.

"Legit", "fair" and "lucrative" are all different words to remember.
It can be "legit" even if it's designed for you to lose money and them to take it all. If it's not explicitly illegal, then it's "legit".
"Fair" means that they give you a chance to actually make a profit, but no help.
"Lucrative" means they make certain that you are happy and actually make money.
I have never heard of a L/P scheme that was "lucrative". A few may be "fair", but hardly worth considering.gentleroger Thanks this. -
I agree. But most of the 1st-time L-P people are just drivers that have ALWAYS been somebody's employee, have no cash, no credit, and believe trucking companies are just aching to provide a truck and trailer and customers to drivers that want the potential of making lots more money and are nearly functionally illiterate. It's not necessary to know everything to be successful, but it is necessary to know if you know everything and to find people who know what you don't know before making life-changing decisions. I almost never see L-P questions here by people with any experience except of being a cog in the machine doing what someone tells them to do. Becoming an L-P is in a no-man's land between being just an employee "robot" doing what others decide you should do and being the boss of the operation making all decisions. While L-Ps don't make all of the decisions, their pay is based on everyone's decisions being made correctly and you can have whatever money is left over, if there is any money left over. The people that know enough to succeed with that formula are not usually the ones asking about L-Ps on the forum.

I like how you put all of that. I thought very similar to the same thing. I wanted to be on my own thinking that I could be my own employee using someone else's truck. I don't have the money to put down or even buy my own truck and I ran into some bad times that ruined my credit. . Unfortunatly others in the trucking business have seen they can use others as prey to capitolize on their dreams and scam others. Now that I have seen that I choose to just be a company driver and work as much as I can to drive someone else's truck, they pay all the bills and hopefully they see me as a good employee and pay me a decent wage.
