Hi professionals!
I was a truck driver in East Europe for 10 years, I just got a CDL 4 months ago here in the US and want to buy a truck. So, I see how expensive are trucks right now and looking for something in low price range.
I found a few like Peterbilt 367, 378 or Kenworth T800 (with really small sleepers, which is ok for me). I am not sure it will work for my purpose (because of HP, trucks weight, scales etc). I am going to drive for company with Reefer Trailer, so the load weight is 40-45k pounds and it is for long hauls.
Will these trucks work for my goals or not? and why?
Will be happy for any advices,
Thank you!
Looking for a truck in this crazy time

East Europe, East Europe, something going on in Eastern Europe,,,wow, I'm glad, and I'm sure you are too, you got out. Welcome aboard, you came to the right place. As TTR's naysayer, I strongly recommend NOT buying a truck right away. The trucking world in the USA today is in a heap of trouble. Owner operators, who have gotten the raw deal for years, have had enough and are circling Washington DC as I type. They have nothing left to lose( and everything to gain, they figure) and will further hamper relations with rulemakers,, I'm afraid. 50% of new O/O's fail in the 1st year, and half of those that made it the 1st year, will fail in the 2nd, and that study was a couple years old already. We have a member here, Chinatown", who has a hobby finding good company jobs for folks here. Use his wisdom, and drive for a good company. Truck ownership, to the chagrin of many, is on it's way out.

I agree with most of this but not all of it but as mentioned by happily retired, in your shoes I think I’d wait or do company for a little bit
You may have unlimited funds but trucking is more than $$$ in the bank, it’s like Amway. You can make it but in this business there’s more $$$ to lose than your $189 start up kitmidwest_trucker and 201 Thank this. -
That's whats great about the great ol' USA ! You can do anything you want (legally). You can take chances and either succeed OR fail. $$$ so plays into your decision, right ? So, continue with your dream and if you fail, can you "come back" after being broke ? Well, we're waiting for your answer and the best of luck to ya'
