Looking for advice on CDL Schools, and reputable companies in SE VA

Hello all. I've begun the process of seeking financial aid (be it grant, loan, or saving) and am looking for advice on a few things from those experienced in the area (Im on the southside of hampton roads, willing to drive up to hour 1 way daily for the right fit)....

1. Anyone have experience getting funding through Virginia Career Works? I am halfway through the process here and feel good about the place so far. Would love to hear any other's experience with this for CDL training funding

2. Any experience with 160 driving school? Tentatively i've chosen this school based on one or two tips but second thoughts abound. I'm far from locked in on this choice, for any reason.

3. Which CDL schools, or paid training employers in the region would you recommend. I've aware OTR is likely a requirement at first, and willing to do this. I'm also willing to sacrifice initial pay to ensure i get the right training and best likelihood of success, provided i'll have good options 6 months down the road of experience.

TL;DR: Around hampton roads, which school or will train employer would you recommend or advise against, and if you have any experience with VCW, lay it on me!

I agree with Chinatown, OTR isn't a requirement right out of school, its.just the most sure fire and quickest path to gain experience and get to the jobs that you want. Wherever you end up, try to make it 1 year at minimum. That opens up a lot of opportunities. Some local or regional gigs, you may need to do 2 years to make yourself stand out as candidate.

I've sent them my resume and contact info on your recommendation and my review of their site.
