You know what, i do agree with you. Peddling will def. take a toll on your body and attitude. I have been on the same Shag run for 16 years and every morning when i go thru my DR's , i dont know what kind of Crap Storm is going to hit me in the face. I just think the industry on the whole is being Micro- Managed to the Extreme by first class morons. I never thought i would be going to the DMV to get my Tankers Endorsement just because i haul one or two Chem. Totes on my trailer. What next? On a side note i was 3 years into my bid run when i tore my left MCL. 3 years later i tore my rt. MCL. 6 years ago i tore my Rt. Biceps Tendon but yes, i know how hard it is on UPS Parcel guys and Gals. The UPS guy that delivers to my house has been out of action for months due to surgery and i see the job taking the toll on some of my Female freinds that have busy routes.

Oil, i understand completely. I was born and lived in Brooklyn ( Sheepshead Bay) for 21 years and could not imagine 200+ stops in the city, however the pay IS off the hook as well as the benefits and they dont have to obide by some of the rules dumped on us I.E. hazmat regs and cell phone use etc.

Haha, yesterday was one of those impossibly easy days, only 8 drops and 3 pickups, than my truck breaks down and i have to get towed, getting paid by the hour was the only good thing about that

I hear Ya, By thurs. eve. i have my money made for the week. Thursday i left with 20 del. and made 19 due to a residential customer not being home. I made 8 Pickups for 27 stops all day which is real close to average for me due to a busy area. Yesterday i went out with 8 and made 6 pickups and had 3400 lbs. of inside delivery. Most of the afternoon i played Pocket Pool!

Lol I figure you'd understand. Two guys from my 1st YRC terminal who I keep in touch with (both transferred out last year during the change of operations) both went to line haul and wish they did it sooner. They say the same thing it took a toll on their bodies.

I do keep my eye out for better jobs though. Now that I'm at UPSF its a little harder. I turned down a tanker job that I applied to months ago, figure I'd be better off at UPSF as those smaller companies you don't know what will happen.

I do however keep an eye out for other field of work options that aren't trucking if something better comes up. I just don't want to take any more chances with the economy is right now.

Does Pepsi have shuttle runs after you've been there? IMO city P&D is a lot of work even compared to foodservice. City you have to move pallets that can weight up to 3k with a non electric jack is killer and sometimes have to hand deliver, plus pick ups. In foodservice your not gonna del that much weight per del vs freight. Overall I rather run linehaul and work nights, way easier!

I don't know, man, I saw the guy that delivers to my nearest McDonald's the other day. He looks like Lou Ferrigno, same face as well. You should see him coming down that liftgate with his getouttamyway iliftmanycasesatonce face. Seems like hard work.
