Located in NC...what are good schools? Totally confused by what I read on here with all the comments about "CDL mills" and so on.

What do you experienced truckers advise for someone interested in a new career?

Community colleges are usually the best schools. Not all community colleges have truck schools. The others, you need to do a tour of their facilities. Generally, a good school will have an acre or two or more, have multiple trucks/trailers to learn on, good classrooms, sleeper trucks (with mattress removed), and experienced instructors. Watch out for schools with day cabs and pup trailers (28' ers). Look for 4 week classes as opposed to a one week wonder.
