Anybody know of a freelance IOS (IPhone App) (or Android) developer with core data/UI experience who wants to work but is not part of a group that demands $100k minimum project base? I have an app idea for truckers (relatively simple) but my limited IOS programming knowledge is the primary limiting factor for me personally to develop, build, tweak, and polish.
In the Dallas area but would be great, but not necessary they be "local". Thanks.

As an aside ... for the younger among us here who may be considering career choices. IOS and Android programming is a guaranteed lucrative career into the foreseeable future. Like truck driving, programming is not for anybody and everybody, but if you have certain aptitude skills and a keen ability to learn and develop and apply your programming skill-sets, experienced developers can pretty much set their own salary in key markets ... truck driving on the other hand

I used to outsource my side work to programmers from guru.com, check it out. The folks with high reputation scores and good feedback are plentiful, and the escrow payment system is fair to both parties so not much risk involved.

Thanks for the tip. An interesting site/concept with a lot of possibilities but I'll have to look into the cost, ownership, copyright, and revenue aspects before I divulge too much to too many.

Yep... We always pushed our own NDA and licensing, etc. before we gave them SVN access to the dev servers. Guru used to have their own NDA and other agreements for the parties to use. Not sure if they still do... but you know how it is, an NDA is as only as good as your bank account balance is able to pay the legal costs to enforce it.
Anyway, good luck with your project. Guru has been around for more than a decade, and is pretty reputable for freelance development. -
Hey there! 24 years old programmer here from Estonia. I might be able to help or know someone who could!

I used eLance once, and the programmers were off-shore (india). It was a great bargain until they infected my dev server with virion and compromised it's security. I had to scrub the server and re-deploy 400 GB worth of development project work from a bare-metal backup image. Needless to say I stopped using off shore contractors. Of course, this isn't really a warning about eLance, but moreso a heads up about the "bargain" rates you can sometimes get from non-domestic programmers. At least domestically one has a small window of recourse should nasty things occur.
Never heard of staff.com, are they serving the IT world, or a smorgasbord of sectors? -
I'm "teaching myself" IOS after laughing off several $15,000 + quotes. It's tough and it's slow, but I've cleared about 4 of the 6 toughest hurdles I foresee in getting the basic functionality working. It's a primarily data (core data) based app. Maybe I'll finish it maybe I won't. Maybe it'll pass muster maybe it won't but it gives me something to do in my spare time.
