Looking for engine advice

Should make note of if you need epa10 compliant or not.

 

So it has to be a def truck. They are all a crap shoot, but honestly Volvo seems to have the least problems, Detroit and cummins the new ones seem to always perform better than the previous years model... I wouldn't buy any maxxforce engine, paccar's 2nd generation mx seems to do ok.

Any of the new motors come with a gamble. There's people say they have no problems ever, some people say they're problems from day 1.

 

I have an EPA10 550 ISX. It started life at a fleet, and I'm sure, was mistreated.

It's been down a handful of times over the past 18 months. Once or twice left me on the side of the road. At 565,xxx it blew up.

The good: It's very responsive to the throttle, pulls like a Union Pacific locomotive and averages 6.3 - 6.6 (and I'm stretched out and never loaded light)

Overall, I'm happy with it.
