I am in the market for a new in dash unit. The one I have skips too much when hitting bumps. Would like something with shock, anti skip system that works, Sirius radio and a aux input on the front of the radio. Any suggestions?

Go to China Mart and get a Pioneer deck for around $140 and your set.

You can get the cheapest one which is around $90, but why get the bottom
    of the barrel.

Pioneer, and Kenwood are your best bets, don't go with a Sony.

I think you're going to be into it for more than that. I couldn't find any Pioneer deck for less than around $150 that was satellite radio ready. Then you're into it for around another $100 for a satellite radio tuner. Unless you desperately want it built in to your deck, I would just get a new deck with whatever features you want minus the satellite radio, and then get one of the dock-and-play style radios. Cheaper and easier I think.

If I am going to be driving 70 hrs a week I am not going to be buying the cheapest seat or the cheapest stereo!! I for one feel my ### and ears are worth buying the best I can afford. Not the most expensive but the best for my money!

You need to think about how much you use anything in trucking and divide the cost by the hours or miles you use it. So lets say you spend 500.00 for a stereo and you use it five years. You drive 70 hrs a week and you work 50 weeks a year if my calculator is right that is 17,500 hours that comes out to less than 3cents an hour!!

Now to me that is cheap entertainment there boys!!! I have been listening to my alpine for 6 years so it is getting cheaper every day in my book !!!

Yeah but can you really tell the difference in sound quality between a $500 unit and one that costs $150 riding down the road with all the ambient noise in the cab? I can't.

It's not so much about sound quality, it's features and ease of use, and durability.

Delphi appears to be the only company currently making an AM/FM/CD/MP3 head radio with BUILT-IN XM or SIRIUS.

    For example:

List is like $449. This is the most expensive one I am aware of but they make 2 other cheaper models. You can get XM or SIRIUS. Cost is the same in that respect. I am actually looking into one of these but have some questions that I need to call pana pacific on this am. Iowa80 sells one of them and most dealers carry one of them as well. I think Truck Pro also sells this brand...They even carry wire harnesses so you can technically just plug this into OEM wiring. My wiring has been hacked, so unless I can get a schematic off of the radio, i am not sure how I can mate each wire. Ironically my SIRIUS tuner (SC-C1) and 20days old died a sudden death. Crutchfield is advance replacing it. It is mated to an Alpine adapter (KCA100) and then to an Alpine head-end. I am debating on tossing those in my car and opting for an all-in-one more rugged solution, like the one above. The Delphi puts out the same crappy 17w x 4 power but also comes with NOAA weather.

EDIT: You need a power harness for the radio ($15) and a Delphi Antenna kit ($60) and a microphone kit ($40) if you want to run Bluetooth.
It only will accept a Delphi antenna. Its all proprietary connectors up the wazzoo.... I found the best pricing at Truck Pro (if you negotiate with them)
but KW did offer to match it, ONLY once I had a lower price. I have dropped over $9k at the dealer since June 2010 and I would think I shouldn't have to do that no more....geez...

I installed this over the weekend. New Radio, wire harness and antenna. Microphone is on back order.

Total cost invested $550 when I add in the microphone. Yea, it's a lot of money but if thats what your looking for thats the ticket. Skip the bluethooth - cost of the radio drops $60 or so...skip the Sirius/XM - another drop. But at that point, just buy a cheapy China Mart radio from Sony or something. Personally I like a clean looking radio with easy buttons and none of the 'flash' that the snapper heads have in their 'fart can' exhaust setup little Hondas and Acura's.
