Hey all. I'm looking for any and all advice I can get as far as gettin into cattle trucking goes. Little background.. Im 21 from New Hampshire and have no experience with livestock. I own my own truck. Most all my driving has been runnin a lowbed movin oversize, pullin a live bottom and a dump trailer. I am very firmly set in the idea of headin west and puttin my rig under a pot. Any advice anyone can offer would be great. If you know of certain companies that would be a good place to start please let me know. Thank you all in advance and safe travels.
Looking for info from bull haulers

Welcome to TruckersReport. You've got a tough road ahead of you considering your location and age, but if you want it bad enough you can make it happen. It will likely involve starting out working a salebarn, feedlot, or in the pens for somebody until you get some cattle experience because that is the number one thing you need. It really doesn't matter how good you can drive a truck, without knowing how to handle cattle, you're really going to have a hard time finding anybody reputable that will let you pull a trailer and load you.
We've had a lot of threads on this topic over the years - too many to even remember all of them. Use the search feature and do a thread search for livestock or cattle. That will give you plenty of reading until some of the cow haulers can get in here to help you. Good luck!Ctalarico07, MJ1657, OddballW9 and 3 others Thank this. -

BTW... when you cross the scales you will have to give the cattle commands to move around so the weight is correct...

@wore out might give some pointers on hauling cattle. I think he's done that in the past.
OddballW9, d o g, wore out and 1 other person Thank this. -
Appreciate all the info. I think I'd read near every thread about livestock on here before I posted this and the general idea seemed to be startin working at a sale barn. Was real curious as to if there's any companies that would put you runnin with another experienced driver in a way to learn the ways of handling livestock.
