Here's what I have learned so far...
Trailers are 48 and for some locations they use 45s.
I'm on a 5 store right now and the fewest stops I've seen is 3.
Backing in from the street, jumping curbs and medians, tasting grass and planters, blocking 4 lanes of traffic...YES! Gotta do what you gotta do to deliver the goods.
I think the reason they talk about 70k is it's regarded as the low end of average. I've talked to a few drivers who turn and burn averaging 3000+mIles a week and something in the 80k range. I want a life so I will do a slow grind and enjoy my time at home. So far I'm doing 2400-2700 per week and getting 3 nights at home.
This is a great gig!! Lucky for us who live in the area because they only hire local.

    Longarm and 28 Thank this.

    @Little Eddy,
2400-2700 is about my speed, but there are weeks when I'd like to get 3,000+ just not all the time

    How's your home time looking?
Do you mainly depart on Sunday or Monday

As for backing over whatever, blocking lanes it's all good...

    I like that shi!....

    Little Eddy Thanks this.

So far I've been running Monday to Saturday ( hm whenever Saturday and back at it Monday 5am) with the odd night at home mid week.
I hope to do some Vancouver BC runs and they head out Sunday am.
They are very open to hooking us up with what we want but I've been told there are times a ld is considered HOT and they need the driver to run it even if the driver doesn't like that run. If you got legal hours, you hk and book.
I'm cool with that; they are signing the check so I figure they get to tell me what play to run.

    Is SW forced dispatch?

To give you an idea of how drivers are treated...
I got in Friday morning and rather then send me over Donner they told me to take the rest of the weekend off. They gave me a 5 store ld that delivers on Tuesday and said I could pick it up Monday and sleep at first store.
I get holiday pay for Monday along with my miles. I'll be back in Reno Wednesday afternoon and will get the rest of that day and all day Thursday off for medical apointments.
They really try to take care of the drivers.
    Super nice people...no one complains.
    It's Stepford trucking, only I don't it's a facade.

Not sure how to answer this...
They do want you to roll the paint but it's not like you are told to run if your sick or tired and they are super concerned with safety and image.
That big blue trailer says it all and says it loud.
You might be told you have to deliver to Los Angeles but it's not like you are told to do a lv ld at 3am. All the store hrs are somewhere between 6am to 7pm; the delivery takes place always in that time cycle. And, if you get back to Reno after 5pm dispatch has gone home so you won't even get an out-bound until 7am the next day after they start their day.
Heard that a few guys alway come in late so that they can get that mid week home time.

I think we have different opinions on what constitutes forced dispatch.

Do all the senior guys get to cherry pick loads leaving the undesirable loads for whoever or does dispatch assign loads based on hours, region, etc?

    Yes.
I believe senior guys do get certain routes but that is only speculating.
So, what would you consider forced dispatch? I considered it to be going somewhere or running longer than you have agreed to. I never went east of Texas and would have refused to go...trying to make me constitutes forced dispatch in my reading of the concept.
