What did they do for orientation? Just curious if I'm going to need to commute for a week to get through orientation.
-
Wow, location, location, location I guess. Not the kind of welcome I experienced.
Wow! Not the kind of welcome I experienced in Effingham. I heard there were a couple of trainers that were kind of negative, but the 3 drivers I spent time with were all positive.
I didn't get into a logo Sherwin Williams truck for about a year, but the white Penske truck was mine. And when I was given the truck, I was asked to give it a test drive to make sure I liked it. I wonder if your 2.5 hour distance from Waco makes you a local driver? That whole slip seating arragement sounds odd as you indicated you were hiring on as a full time driver. Only casual drivers (part time) slip seat in Effingham. Yeah, make a list of questions to ask. I hope this trainer was just blowing smoke.

I hope that he was just blowing smoke, too. We shall see.
I was hoping to hear back about drug test results today. No such luck. Looking forward to hearing from them on Monday. -
Did you have to sit in a room doing paperwork and watching videos for a few days before you got started?
-
I left home on a Monday riding down to Effingham with one of the drivers. Took us two days. Wednesday was orientation. Just a lot of information and paperwork. Then the drug test and I was headed back home Thursday, another 2 day trip. My trainer picked me up the following Monday, rode with him for 3 days and was given a temporary truck and a load going home Thursday to be delivered Friday. Picked up a back haul the next Monday and received my assigned truck when I arrived in Effingham. Like I said, it all happened pretty fast. Keep us updated on your experience. I hope it turns out better than described.

That would be awesome, if it worked out like that.
At any rate, i'll be happy to get started. Sounds like an awesome company to drive for.
I'll post updates as they come.
Thanks for your help. -
Oh, I might add;
All my overnights were spent in my own hotel room. No sleeping in the truck or hotel room with a total stranger. Also, be prepared to learn as you go. Information seems to come on a need to know bases. Could be looked upon as a negative, but Sherwin Williams doesn't have a lot of turn over so there orientation comes across a bit disorganized. I saw it as confirmation this is a good company to work for. Hope you find it the same.

Longarm...
Did you ever put in your application?? -
No not yet. Still a lot to think about regarding my next move. I may very well look for something where I'm home every night.
Maybe SW has something local on my area? I do need to call them.tank4life Thanks this.
