im new to trucking, and was talking with a driver a while back , and he was telling me about a lawyer/ company that can act in my behalf, if I'm not able to be in court for traffic tickets (etc). I haven't had any as yet,but thought it might be worth looking into. any one know what he was talking about? I think that this is not a person but a type of company that works on behalf of the drivers on the road.

their are a couple of company's that do this one is open road and don't know the name of the outher one, they ushualy sit at the TA and bug you, I had open road for a little but its not worth it in my opion, yes they get you a lawyer and go to court for you but you still half to pay the court cost and all that, just don't speed, the way I look at it is if you pay on that for a year and get one ticket that cost you 60, but you fight it cause you have open road your going to pay a couple hundred for court cost and you already gave that company a grand or more, just follow the speed limit and read the sighns and their be no need for a lawyer.

TVC. Truckers Voice in Court. Their idea of representing you is pleading for a lesser charge. Doesn't matter if you are innocent or not. A waste of money in my opinion. You pay them a monthly fee, and then if you ever need them, they hit you for 3x what the ticket is, plead for a lesser charge, which the points still add up on your CSA score.

As I am now doing my third year in law school, (online) let me say that Lawyers are about to become the most important people on the planet.

I do not know if the pre paid legal services are something that is worth while or not. Transport America pushes them at you and they are a big company. I figure they know what they are talking about. It is just another type of insurance. It is always cheaper in the long run to pay for things out of your own pocket.
