What part of Ohio do you live in? -
Northeastern...we are right inbetween Cleveland and Columbus

Tell your hubby to look into one of the good paying union flatbed companies such as, Nick Strimbu, Yourga, and P I & I.
gorci and already gone Thank this. -
tell your husband check this company out. you must be an Ohio resident, so that is not a problem. 1 yr OTR or recent school grads. OHIO RESIDENTS ONLY!
i applied with them and that is how i found out about the residence requirement. good luck. i did the Shaffer thing myself, and i totally understand what he is going through. they suck at getting you home, but they have no problem laying you over for a 34 hour restart 900 miles from a terminal with no freight.

they are located in Findlay, Ohio.gorci Thanks this. -
oh and he can also try Hornish Trucking out of Defiance. the name look familiar? Sam Hornish perhaps? yes, that is the family that owns that company. Sams dad still runs it as far as i know. my dad went to school with Sams dad. he can try them as well.
they might take 1 yr otr, i think its 2 years though.gorci Thanks this. -
Tell him to find the nearest DAYTON FREIGHT terminal and leave an application with them. Right place, right time and he may get in and be home nightly.

If you want to do flat beds, I live north of Columbus and get home almost every weekend. I Drive for Maverick!
gorci Thanks this. -
I just went to Dayton Freight web site and it looks like they pay salary for drivers. I didn't know truckers could work on salary. How is the pay for Maverick? What's average miles that someone would get? Right now my husband is working for Shaffer..VERY disappointed with that company. Grateful that they hired a new grad and now he does have some experience but I believe he would make more money working at McDonald's.. as of his last pay stub he hasn't even grossed 23,000. That is from January 1st til August 19th.

I work for Heartland, but they are not too great for teams.
I work OH regional, you can choose to be home just about every weekend or every other weekend.
freight is up some and I am doing ok. They do not pay practical miles though, and they are short to Med haul.
May be worth a try though.
I was getting too few miles, so I applied to Crete. But when they called and checked employment I talked to my dispatcher and all of a sudden I got miles lol.gorci Thanks this.
