I was briefly at marten in 2010 and I couldn't deal with the micro management and every long load went to a rail yard .
Will say they had excellent equipment, good pay and benefits along with pay that was always on time and accurate....good luck !Savor the Flavor and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Ok, 2010 aye. Thanks for writing. To bad driver organizations can't find a happy medium for a joint agreement with Owners on railroad shipments. I understand your disappointment then. Wow. Its really a shame how many loser companies there are. Mind blowing. The local jobs are horrible too. 16 hour days, 6 days a week, dirty, grimey, hot, super sweaty, no breaks, using the bushes for a toilet, terrible equipment, low pay, a hole boss. Its an OUTRAGE I TELL YOU, but again, thanks.
bzinger Thanks this. -
Okay,,,so what's the problem? Just kidding, coming from Wisconsin, Marten was the "premium" company to drive for. They did a lot of "cheese out to Cal., garbage( produce) back" stuff. Randy Marten always proclaimed himself as just "one of the boys", you simply can't go wrong with Marten.Team818 Thanks this.

It going to be hard for me, if it works at ALL. I have some issues with companies that have a 51% physical work load involved with the driving. I am 59. I was wanting to drive about 2200 miles a week MAX. I thought a regional company like marten might have that kind of position. This jobs is mainly for me to have medical coverage for my wife and myself. Drive in the midwest. I live near Sioux Falls. Lots of meats here to haul. Anyways, do not want to start my own business, lease purchase. 2000 to 2200 will work. For us. I have saved money my whole life. Have money. Hopefully start collecting SS in 2 years. That's all I am about today. Marten sounds like they might be okay for that. They can't be as bad as mesilla valley trans. Swift is better than them.

If it's just medical coverage you're after, I'd suggest a local P&D or line haul. Some of those jobs are pretty gravy and by the hour. Since you aren't in this for the "long haul", I'd stay away from long haul. It's a literal zoo out there, and I'd have to think HOS rules would drive an OTR driver nuts. Stay close to home is my advice. Just for the record, I hear, meat is going to be in short supply, as farmers throw in the towel left and right. Bad news if you aren't a vegetarian,,,Team818 Thanks this.

If your from Sioux Falls have you talked to A&A Express in Brandon , that Schwan's depot drops used to be the cats pajamas.
Team818 Thanks this. -
Yep, I heard that about cattle too. They cut the Cheese to much.... wink..... Cheese... hahaha

I will look them up on here. See if they are active. Marten drivers seemed to have left trucker report.bzinger Thanks this.

You know the cattle around here really pass gas too. The political world wants to ban them. They want to be the ones that create all that methane and carbon dioxide.
