Long story short, I've been pouring over the forums about tanker information,, even found a few bulk jobs near me in Alabama, and slot of things are pointing me towards Schnieder.'s training.
The thing is, I have my twic, can get hazmat pretty easy once I get rolling, but I just want to make sure I'm decently educated before taking the plunge into tanker (haha).
I've driven dryvan, flatbed, etc off and on since 2004, only taking a break from the road back in 2008 to 2010 to do plant work. I've been unemployed the past year due to medical, but should be cleared come January.. So I guess what I'm going on about is.. Is Schneider my only option for get tin decent home time, and more importantly, the proper education I'll need for learning tanker? I was with Schneider a few years back, left after a new dbl and me didn't see eye to eye about get tin home after my son was born. But that was obviously dryvan.
Any input would be great. I've asked around in other threads in regards to particular companies, but I'm deadset on going the tanker route.
Looking for more information.

I had a friend go to Indian River Transport with zero tanker experience and they trained her right up. I don't know what decent home time for you is but she was home every other week I think but that's what she told them she wanted

I started driving 12 yrs ago and went through Schneider bulk for the training and getting my cdls they covered all the bases as a tanker driver needs to know. Loading, Unloading and the differnt products and how to handle them. Trained out of the Gary, Indiana terminal which was decent. If you wanna handle hazmat loads yes Schneider is a good route to take to learn the job.

If you wanna handle food grade, be ready to work every holiday that is on the calender. Cause the customer such as deans foods which is my current and soon to be former employer doesn't care they need the product even on Christmas morning

What part of Alabama? If you are within an hour or so drive of Mobile, there are several hazmat tanker jobs and most will hire with no tank experience. My buddy just retired from one of those jobs (was there less than a year but wanted to see what it was like pulling a variety of tank trailers before he hung up his keys). Based on our phone conversations, he was easily home 3 times a week, every load was loaded out, dead head back.
