Truck driving is so much more than driving. You need to know how to pre-trip your equipment, pre-plan your run, what's expected from you with police agencies, how to deal with security people at shippers/consignees and dock people, do paperwork, deal with all kinds of weather, manage your time, be flexable with your time, etc etc. Driving farm equipment won't really cut any mustard with employers, because of the above reasons. And if you work 6 mo and take off for 3 months for fun activities, Co. will terminate you but only maybe hire you back.
Looking for my ticket to fame and fortune! haha

And I forgot to mention I drove a cargo van at one point so I have a little experience with shippers/consignees as far as making sure the freight that gets loaded matches the dims and delivery addresses on the paperwork, looking for damages to the freight, making sure the load is secure and most importantly making sure you get a pod.
When you pre plan the run what are the things to plan for? Is it like fuel stops, avoiding certain metro areas during certain times, planning after hours instructions type stuff or mainly what I am wondering is are there any tricks to planning the run? -
Chinatown Thanks this.
