Mods: move it if you should .

im looking for a Mudflap or roof fairing with the North American Van Lines logo for a garage decoration.

i too started at ComTrans ( a NAVL) division, out of Etters, PA, many years ago, driving one of those wonderful IH cabovers.

i didn't strip off any parts, as i wanted out of that company with a passion.

sorry, no mud flap for you...but thanks for the memories.

    Youre welcome

my first rig was a IH cabover with no power steering .
Wrecked it with one payment left .

i knew a few comtrans guys
I started and stayed with triple crown roadrailers , and liked it . Made good money and home almost every night.
They had way more loads than owner ops to haul them, we worked seven days a week and got paid a substantial bonus to work on weekends.

They opened a terminal near me to service the ford assembly plant.
A few years later When the ford plant closed things slowed down a lot and I bailed for other opportunities .

yeah, "comtrans" was the general freight division of NAVL, and we were company drivers. as a result, the o/o's in the other divisions do not like us.

sorry, but i was hired by a trucking company, was as green as the grass, and really didn't know how many divisions NAVL had or that we got many loads, while some o/o's sat...........

my (i should say our as i had to run team) IH was a former o/o tractor, and as such, there was no trolly brake, and the jake brake was also disconnected...

i think if i recall, NAVL removed the trolly handle to force the o/o's to not burn up the trailer brakes, rather than to use ALL the brakes.

i'll never know why, the jake was disconnected.

those days are well behind me, but......it was still a learning experience.

    Yep
I started as a O/O lease purchasing a IH cabover from navl working regional loads at the triple crown roadrailer terminals

i had recently attended a 10 week CDL class at a community college that has a cabover freightliner , and I had driven a single axle dump truck pulling a backhoe

I had never driven a big truck before , I bought a one way delta ticket to Ft Wayne and made it though their orientation and picked out a truck and they had me hitch up to an empty trailer to take back .

I stopped at the first truck stop and offered to buy a nice dinner to any driver who’d show a new rookie what I needed to know about the truck .

some older guy was super nice , showed me how to drain the air tanks , etc

I made $5000 profit after insurance and fuel and truck payment the first month .
The job I quit I was making $850 a month.
So saving money was no problem .

    kemosabi49 Thanks this.
