For the most part you do. I worked for TDI many moons ago, for about a month. Lots of Ryder trucks being moved. Tough way to make a living.

Active does Paccar trucks (Kenworth/Peterbilt) but they currently have a bunch of drivers on layoff. Thats where I'm at now been laid off for almost two months. It's a Teamsers job. The pay is great and the benifits are free for you and your family, they pay all expenses on the road, other than food. If you can put up with frequent lay offs and getting crummy runs for 5 to ten years, till you get some seniority then they are probrably one of the best jobs out there.

The other companys I know of are

Iron Tiger- According to there website they have Navistar(Intrnational) and Volvo/Mack http://irontigerlogistics.com/
Autotruck- They have Freightshaker/Wetern Star and Ford trucks (Heavy Duty) http://autotrucktransport.com/
Unimark- There all independent contractors I belive they pick up overflow work for Iron Tiger and Autotruck http://unimarktransport.com/
    Active- Like I said Peterbilt/Kenworth http://activetransport.com/

I can give you no insight on how the other companys pay. I have been told that there all actually owned by a company called JHT Holdings http://jhth.com/
Infact that company controls all NEW truck transport in the US. From what I've heard they started all the different companys up as a way to drive the unions out of the truck transport business.

I am currently employed in the industry of new truck movement. If you have a passport and cdl-a check with JHT Holdings website. They oversee 5-6 companies that move decked loads. Also check truckmovers/ Iron tiger logistics. If you have cdl-B then you can look into single truck carriers. Quality, Bennett, Apollo or truckmovers which all are single truck carriers among many others. You will have to pay for all expences unless you get in with one of the unionized carriers. Iron Tiger Logistics, Auto Truck Transport and Active USA are union companies. All 3 offer all expences paid ( except tools and personal habits) as well as health and pension paid for. All these can be found online.
