I might be jumping the gun but...
I start trucking school on Monday the 25th..4wk course. The company Ive been in contact with is Schneider and Im feeling pretty good about it at this point. I was told to apply in a couple weeks. Though not hired on yet I feel I need to do my own search for a partner or at least read up about it. I do understand Schneider will team me up with someone. Is their anyone out their looking for a partner to team with? How about anyone with Schneider who is looking for a partner? Schneider is currently offering a $7k sign on bonus. I am open to other companies at this time....

too bad your near rockford. use to live there but now im near springfield, mo. i just went through the schneider orintation program and am looking for a partner. i have a temporary for the next 4 wks out of st louis, il. as for the sign-on bonus. its paid out in increments over 3 yrs. but! if your team splits up for any reason (incompatable, quit, fired, ect..) then you have to pay it all back.

I passed the "initial screening" for schneider so Im waiting on a call to let me know when orientation will start. Wont be til aug because I graduate from school July 29th. So Im hoping that means Im in...? Didnt know about the 3yr rule on the sign on bonus for team. Thanks for the thumbs up.

If victorr1 is right about the sign on bonus, I would bank it and not spend it. It will be used against you to keep you when you want to go elsewhere. Most of us only work for the Mega fleets long enough to be hired by the smaller companies where there is less bull. If you owe them money, it is harder to leave.
otherhalftw and afindleya Thank this. -

wiseguywireless, yes one can bank it. but im guessing after 3 yrs of teaming the money is probably yours to keep regardless what happens after that. the company can't keep it over your head forever.
as for the pay afindleya... it works like this. its a 3 wk course. 1st week is w2 forms logbook training and driving around city/county roads and learning bump&runs and skipshifting. 2nd wk is an over the road training. and 3rd wk is finish up with map reading and sqt final tests (thats when you graduate). as for pay; its 460 a wk gross and 1st check through the snailmail is about 2 and a half weeks. you'll get a dummy check and the real check will be either the same day or right after it. you shouldn't have no trouble if your alert to what going on around you (mirrors), watching your corners, backing and pretrips. if you have those down then you'll breeze thru. hope this helps.afindleya Thanks this.
