Then buy your own trailer and not rely on someone else for equipment??? If your going to run your own authority, why do you want to pull someone else's trailer??? Maybe I missed something

OK, little confused on how some of the answers and reposts but going to give it a shot on some of this.

The dirty little not-so secret is that most carriers make money on fuel, tires, etc. With little effort you can find the same discounts if not better than what a carrier may be offering. Most offer a plate program but that isn't worth much. Cargo insurance is bundled into what they keep. In short, EVERY CARRIER CHARGES YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR BEING INDEPENDENT they just "bundle" it into the percentage they are keeping.

So you have to figure out what all that is worth and if you can get better.

Now if someone is telling you they are paying the same as someone leased vs independent then they aren't looking to broker freight and likely are using that as a cheap gimmick to get people to lease to them. If they are playing games to get you to lease to them then what makes you think the game playing will stop once you have their name on the side of your truck?

These rates just seem so cheap for reefer with your own trailer. Why focused on them?

1.50 a mile doesn't cut it. Maybe coming back north it would but man to haul exclusively for them? I think not. Find you a good LTL company. then you can bounce back empty and not worry too much about it.

So $1.50 mile running under your own authority and you own trailer???? Schneider/Prime/JB drivers make more than that with the FSC...... Better keep on looking man, cuz you'll be in the poor house fast with those costs.

Leasing on either of those carriers do they pay for lumper fees? How about reefer fuel since it's their trailer? You could lease on to a place like prime or somewhere similar pulling 1 of their trailers being able to go into California and make a heck of a lot more than a 1.50 a mile. Why don't you look into buying your own trailer in getting your own authority instead? Or looking into somewhere like FedEx custom critical pulling 1 of their refrigerated trailers? I would guess you can make much more money pulling LTL For FedEx custom critical.
