Looking for real world feedback on the PACAR MX 13

Just off the cuff sounds like injectors.

Shaker of Tucson would not be my first choice.

Injectors was replaced all of them at overhaul by Detroit dealer Stewart and Stevenson in denver, in Tucson I got stuck, it started to act up wouldn't shift, etc, than it went away, but I was afraid to go fur, so give it a shut.
It's 2006 S60 with autoshift

Our shop manager is a S60 guru. I'll ask him tomorrow.

When they did the injectors, did they use new or factory reman, OR generic?

The 60 is the most bullet proof engine there is, PROVIDING, you use DD parts. Once you get into knock offs it gets ugly.

Is your fuel OK? Tanks OK? Fuel line?

I drive an '06 Century with a 60 / 500 HP / 13 speed as my daily driver. It's coming up on 1.2 million.

I'll ask him tomorrow. We use almost all Shakers, and we're in Phoenix, so he could probably recommend where to go.

Please describe exactly what happened in detail, so I can relay to him.

got early 2016 pete 579 with mx13. 80% of my trips are pulling 120000lbs in Canadian Rockies. Pulls like a champ. Runs hot. No faults, no warnings. Doesnt use any oil or coolant. Front small radiator was replaced on 4th month under warranty due to small leak. Always serviced on time. Love the truck/engine.

I have a 2015 KW T680 with the MX13.

I have no complaints..truck pulls well,MPG are good and the engine is very quiet.

The 1st week I had it a emissions light came on..took it into a KW shop.
Long story short..it was something minor but they found the turbo wasn't building boost like it should.
So they replaced the turbo..paccar told them to turn the engine up from 455hp to 485hp..so the egine would produce more heat.

Truck woke up big time!
Plenty of power for hills,jake is working the way it should and mpg are getting better every week.

I average anywhere between 7.2 to 8.5 mpg depending on the load.
Lighter loads I can run down the road at 68mph with no problems.

I went with the Paccar over the cummins due to weight issues on the front axle.
Plus the egr problems the cummins can have.

No regrets here.

Well my paccar is doing fantastic after I had it deleted. No more problems and average 7mpg

With that said, The significant majority of the MX issues we see are related to aftertreatment issues. I have never seen an MX engine harness fail where I cannot repair it. Most of the technicians that are in this industry couldn't tell their ####### from a hole in the ground when it comes to an technologically advanced motor like the MX13 EPA13.

For those saying they will go to a cummins instead of a PACCAR engine - The aftertreatment system is identical. I really mean that, I can interchange any part from cummins to PACCAR. So, you won't save any trouble there. The new cummins have real issues with liner protrusion/block erosion (Liners sink into the block then you're getting an inframe), EGR cooler failures, Turbo failures, etc. These are issues that I rarely see on PACCAR engines.

I've got the receipts to prove it. you will experience ridiculous repair costs, lots of down time and many sleepless nights due to financial hardships to you and your loved ones. particularly if you are paid by the mile owner. sadly however, this is becoming the norm, not the exception, with all the newer style trucks. when companies like pacar get away with inferior products they prove to the other truck makers that you don't have to produce a good product to make lots of money. you just have to pass the buck. unfortunately the lease business is what helps drives the trucking industries buck passing. very few companies would be in business without them. their would be absolutely no owner operators. trucks are not made to last like they used to .... they are only required to "last" as long as the original lease does. let the poor idiots who want to own the truck after that worry about it. that's called "Externalization". big corporations have teams of experts working on how to pass the cost on to the consumers and tax payers for the lack of quality in their products. their offices are located right next to the risk management teams(lawyers). in fact they are one in the same. these "how to get away with producing cheap products without being sued" guys are some of the highest payed employees/consultants of any large conglomerate corporation such as pacar. pacar has announced that it has had record growth in the past few years... one would wonder how they have managed to sell a singe vehicle given their track record with the mx series platform. you would think that no one, in their right mind would even consider buying one. and they don't... they lease them. they have big enough truck fleets to absorb the down time. and of coarse they don't have to pay the driver a dime as long as the down time is at home. or less than 24-48hrs. and if he's an o/o they don't need to worry about anything. trucking companies have learned how to "pass the buck" as well. unfortunately there is no where to "pass the buck" when you own one of these spruce gooses, that's off warranty. the money comes strait out of your families wallet... your only option... work more. but the more you work the more wear and tear hence... the more the repair costs. the miles rack up faster but the payments remain at the same duration. so the truck is worth even less at resale due to high miles. this is compounded when a pacar equipped truck is considered to be "hi mileage" at 500k. in essence your buying a truck that has already completed it's expected life... but you've just leased it for the next three years. with no hope of being able to keep it running. this will, and is true for all newer stile trucks regardless of their engine make. because all the manufacturers will follow suit. that's a given. they want "record sales" as well. they are legally bound to do everything in their power to increase the wealth of their investors. and they will.
up till now this has all been fact. now for my own opinion:
ANY ONE considering becoming a used truck owner of any truck built past 2007 is absolutely out of their mind. you will loose! any one considering purchasing a new truck is also completely out of their mind. the resale on them is horrible and you will loose... big! Anyone considering leasing a new truck is also out of their minds... you will work around the clock to pay the lease and be left with nothing to show for it at the end... and you will loose... a smaller amount! either way the buck stops at the driver... it's time for drivers to "pass the buck" and stop driving by the mile as o/o. let the companies start paying for their own equipment again. if you really need to be a truck owner... buy a pre 2007 truck, stay at home and run as an independent hauling gravel during the day and get your weekends off...and do it by the hour! even better, remain a company driver with no worries other than what kind of beer your going to have when your shift is over... and do it by the hour, with overtime... never by the mile. and when the truck breaks down enjoy your downtime rather than worrying about which kid isn't going to college so you can fix your truck. if you must buy a truck... do so only if you can pay for it up front... no credit. your going to need every dime you make, and then some to keep it operating.
once again... just my humble opinion.

Well friend the paccar engine isn’t the problem it’s all the emissions they put of it that kills it. I have 3 of these and all are deleted. Now the dang things are bulletproof.

The dealer stealers will rip you off every time they work on them. So in my case I cut them out and I do all my own work on my trucks.
