First off a little background on my problem, I got my cdl through driver solutions and got hired by USA. everything went good got through orientation in Ohio. got through my first phase trainer with no real problems except for backing, went to second phase trainer who was on a dedicated route which wasnt bad except having to stay in the truck on weekends while my trainer went home. then one weekend he was late getting back and we ended up being behind and were late getting loaded so we had to push things a bit. we were in Ohio and i was driving while trainer slept off his weekend i guess and it started to snow pretty heavily so i slowed down. trainer woke up and told me to speed up because we were already behind and he didnt want to be late for the delivery time then went back to sleep
I was catching up to vehicle in front of me and i didnt like it cause of road conditions so i started to slow down again when all of a sudden vehicle in front dissapered into snow so i slowed down even more. then i hit the heavy snow and all i could see were brake lights everywhere i tried to stop and get off on the shoulder but we were fully loaded and couldnt so i rear ended the car at about 20-25 mph now he had alreay been in an accident with 3 cars and a truck already. all told there were about 5 accidents in that little stretch of road. The county cop that was there told us to get going but the company said wait for insurance adjuster. and while we were waiting state cop came along and gave me a ticket cause the other driver said he coudlnt drive his car which was B/S cause he drove it out of the snow bank
anyway i took the mandatory piss test and did everything the company told me too but then they let me go after stranding me in Ft smith Ar. and put it on my DAC. and now i cant get hired by anyone. That was over a year ago and i was wondering does anyone here know a company that will give someone a chance at least to show what he can do. any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks
Looking for some advice

Sorry about your luck i wish i could help you all i can say is dont give up and if you cannot find anything once your three years is up you should be ok but next time drive at the speed you are comfterable with nobody else can make that decision for you and no load no matter how hot is worth your life or carrier iv called recievers on different occasions explained what was going on and they all said better late than never good luck be safe out there

go back to driving school since it has been a while since you drove last...
then try to put out applications to every company you can..sadly though, since the accident is your fault, you will suffer from this.. as the driver, you Know you took responsibility for driving...you can't really blame the trainer when you go job hunting because the new employers will say what i just said, the accident was your fault.
no employer will "buy" into it being the trainers fault.
so go back to school and get re-trained, put your best foot forward and maybe someone will indeed hire you, but it will be an uphill battle for a while..
if you cannot go back to school....well then, that hill just got taller.....
also, that car probably only could move the few feet, not all the way back home, causing MORE damage, further, if it were me, i'd too have my car towed away to avoid more damage. you are NOT able to determine whether or not that car was drivable after that wreck....and you cannot argue that point either. -
You can try to tell your story to any company that will listen but you'll need to do it face to face. I'd go around to all the companies in the area before paying for any re-training. You'll want to make sure you covered all your bases before spending anymore money. They may come back and say you'll never get hired right now so wasting money on school would be just that, wasted money.
Any driver with any sense will tell you that you should have told that trainer if he wants to go faster then it's his time to drive. Never ever let another driver push you out of your comfort zone. I'm sure you've learned that lesson but let it be told to all new drivers. Good luck you'll need it. -
I feel for you. As a trainee, you look up to the trainer for solid advice and keep you safe while you learn. But it doesn't always work that way. Whenever you are in the drivers seat you are 100% responsible. There are no excuses.
Alot of companies have a 3 accident guideline. Keep on looking and maybe someone will give you a second chance. Like gashauler said, try to get face to face when you talk with a company. Good luck.
