I know Indian River Transport doesn't require Haz-Mat, but I don't know if they hire students. I know Schneider National - Tanker Div. does hire students, but you need your Haz-Mat endorsement. They also require you live within a certain distance from one of the tanker yards.

To me, truck driving is screwed up. Why u want to
try out this lousy, low-life profession called truck driving.I believe the reason why the industry is in so much pressure is because of the schools and the companies. The schools don't tell nobody what truck driving is really about. Over +90% of the people going to school to get their CDL don't know what they're really getting themselves into. They just see the potential money earnings and their eyes light up like lightbulbs and they don't look at the whole picture. 2nd is the companies lie and treat their drivers like crap.

hazmat was a waste of dollars.

i had it for years. and let it go. but then some jobs came up that wanted. so i got it back. and now no one wants it anymore.

it comes and goes as to if they want it or not. but it's really a waste of money.

Hey austin this what you do. Work any where you can with your cdl for 1 year 1year is the key though after that year apply to a fuel transport company. With one yr otr they will take you delivering gas is a highly profitable job.I worked for a company called pope transport for 1 year they paid by the trip for example a local run (0-20 miles) was $35 and a longer run (75-100 )miles was $85 I would get between 5-12 runs a night on a split/shift 12hr slipseat truck I would haul butt all night long and my best check was 1 week before my wedding $2100 take home and thats no bull.

If that is the case every job outside of fairy tail land is full of lairs and really sucks.

I don't specifically know any tanker companies and If you can't find one that hires newbies, do dryvan, alot of the companies pay 1¢ more per mile for hauling hazmat, but read the fine print, some are only when hauling hazmat. Get that yr down, then look again, DON'T quit til you have the new job.

Don't discount grain haulers or non-hazmat tankers, experience is always a good thing.
