I just put a lot of money into a 2007 columbia with a series 60 12.7 at a DDEC V with 3.58 rears. Mainly the injectors were redone and the egr was reinstalled after a delete by the seller. Since I put the truck on the road it has bee ruuning sluggish to me. I put 42k on it at a 17k dry weight and I DIDN THINK I WAS GOING TO MAKE IT. Even what I consider mild hills I had to downshift in order to pass. Even empty it seems to be struggling with absolutely minor grades. Thing is this, today I thought to myself that if the truck went into to freightiner deleted and they reinstalled egr and injectors how is it that I can run with the same turbo. Ive been seriously considering the B&W 21 up until today when i talked to the momentum works salesman whom said it would not accomodate the egr 12.7. He advised a garrett GTA45. SOoooo.. the same turbo is on the engine that has the egr reinstalled. That...doesn't seem right. I looked at it today and the unit most closest to the firewall seems like it is a bit more charred than when i first got on the road. I also felt the stacks today at the fuel island right off of a good distance and they were cool which seemed odd. Arent they supposed to be hot? So with what I stated does anybody have any thoughts. Im looking into a mechanic shop that can inspect the exhaust here in Florida before I take another load Sunday.

Before you do anything, make sure that the CAC and turbo to intake isn't leaking.

The Garage (where you started the thread) is where the thread needs to be. If I move it, we will get reports of it being in the wrong place.

X 2. No boost gauge? Look for obvious blown hoses. Look for a tear in the small silicone hose going from compressor to intake. They often break at the compressor. Usually connected on backside. Can’t be seen, Hard to change too. Tight spot. Maybe a bad turbo boost sensor. I think it would throw a code though. Check blink codes if you haven’t already. The emissions work should have included an ecm reflash. Was it running good before going into the shop? If so, the shop has a problem. They should fix it,

Look for obvious leaks in the boost pipes and cac, if you can monitor boost pressure that will go along way. Low power issues I usually watch actual boost and what ecm sees. Check to see what the hp is set to, d60's are known for boost pressure issues very common. Also they are known for exhaust leaks where the exhaust manifold comes together, loosing exhaust pre turbo will definitely make for a weak ride

Well….. there is a big update here. Today while under a load I start to hear the turbo going on and off like in 1-2 second spurts while I had the throttle pressure steady. It was shocking but it returned to normal after about 2 minutes. I drive about 60 more and here it goes again and now I am loosing speed and rpm and it won’t go back up. I’m in tenth gear. A hill comes and I drop to nine and the turbo seemed fine there so on the downside I shift back to ten and the boost is better now but still not getting past 65. This goes on for about 50 miles. I was a total of 90 miles from my receiver. At 40 miles out tenth gear was able to maintain 57 with what I’m hearing is a broken boost. 15 miles from the receiver 9th started acting a little shakier than at first but being direct I’m thinking the 3.58 helped to get me to the receiver. I’ll be a FTL in the morning as there is one here. I’ll have to DIY another time. I’m really thinking that the previous owner COULD NOT have had a egr turbo on if the engine was deleted. He could have but to me it’s more logical GE put on a non egr to go with the delete and when FTL did the egr install they forgot to speak about the turbo and I’ve been running a egr 12.7 with a non egr turbo. Can anyone tell if the turbo in the pic is a egr turbo? Has anyone had symptoms like this? I’ll update as I find things out. I did hear about the o-ring boost pressure possibility. And the vpod posdibilty, but if it’s an inappropriate turbo on the problem would be obvious. I hope FTL can be honest if it’s just a minor repair.
