So having all that schooling and 4 weeks as an intern isn't enough experience to get hired? And something like 80% of the workforce being over 50 years old isn't reason for companies to start taking on new young drivers?
Maybe you run an extremely successful business doing things this way, but from what I'm reading online there is a need for young people to enter this workforce and it's only going to get bigger and bigger in the next 10 years.
Looking for some info on training..

We pay by the hour plus overtime, subsistence, benefits etc. If we used a per km rate that is in our agreement it would be a minimum of 48 cents per km for 6 axle loads. We've never used it but that would be about $43.20 per hour at 90 KPH.

Don't believe everything you read. Take it from people who are actually on the road and living the nightmare right now.

It's more to do with the work attitude of Canadians that's why companies had to import drivers I've never encountered such winging lazy ######## as you Canadians foreign drivers have a better work Ethic .

You should try a company that offers training or at least a reduced training fee good luck
-
That's more scapegoat ######## about people taking jobs and presently that programme has been closed down in the trucking industry .

Lol, I kinda agree Canadians love to complain and get the max reward for the least amount of work... I try to pride myself with not being the stereotype.uncleal13 Thanks this.

I'm sure I could get a government loan and or grants for this program aswell... and to get in you need to have a letter of intent from a company saying they would want to hire you after you complete the 12 weeks.

I agree. They work so hard and put so many hours in that they have to cut a hole in the floor of their trucks so they can eliminate bathroom breaks. I guess we just aren't smart enough to attain that level of efficiency. They work so hard and so long that they cut the rates down to the point where maintaining trucks become optional for most of them too since most of those trucks get parked/put OOS when the DOT comes to town. Shame on us Canadians for wanting a liveable wage and fair work hours.upnorthwpg and Prairie Boy Thank this.
