I am starting my training in San Antonio on Nov. 30, 2011. :biggrin_25519:

Just needed to know what I need from my doctor, I have sleep apnea and use CPAP. I have original copy of my sleep study and will get my VA doctor to say I use it and it works.

I also take zyrtec for seasonal alergies and a pill for prostate helth.

I think I can pass the vision test without my glasses, but can definately pass with them.

Anyone else go through the San Antonio school that has a few tips for an enthusiastic newbie?

It's probably good to start studying for the DPS tests early. The class after mine only had 3 pass it the first time around. Don't fail the drug test, and be totally honest about all convictions. As you go further in training, the friendlier they get.

It will get tedious, but get all the practice you can. Also the trucks get better as you move up too.

Thanks Sailing.... Never done drugs, so I should pass that. I already been studying DPS manual. I am more worried that I will miss something starting and want to make sure I cover everything before I get there. This forum is great!

The San Antonio school is at the Central terminal. It's a bit of a dump. Don't judge Swift on the appearance of that terminal. You will spend very little if any time at all in Central terminals.

MysticHZ, I read your tagline. I spent 30 years in semiconductor industry but got laid off from Micron in Boise, ID in 2008. Can't find a job now, so I want to get into trucking. From all the ads I see, seems like better job security.

There's job security, because many try it, then don't want to do it anymore.
